Security forces leaving Imran Khan’s house
- Law enforcement officers are withdrawing from around former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore, officials say.
- Police from the capital, Islamabad, tried for a second day to arrest Khan in a case pertaining to his alleged selling of state gifts given by foreign leaders when he was prime minister.
- Officials said the operation to arrest Khan has been suspended due to a cricket match scheduled for later on Wednesday.
PSL says Lahore match to go ahead as scheduled
Amid ongoing police operation to arrest Imran Khan, Pakistan Super League (PSL) says it will hold its match in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium as scheduled.
The eighth edition of the PSL cricket tournament is in its final leg after matches were held in Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi cities.
The last four matches will be played in the stadium, about 10km (six miles) away from Khan’s Zaman Park residence. On Tuesday, a practice session for the PSL teams was cancelled due to the clashes at Zaman Park.
League leaders Lahore Qalandars and runners up Multan Sultan will meet at 7pm on Wednesday, with the winner directly qualifying for the final on March 19.
On Thursday, Islamabad United will play against Peshawar Zalmi.
The four teams are staying in a five-star hotel on Lahore’s famous Mall Road, located about 3km (1.9 mile) from Zaman Park.
