Super Typhoon Doksuri Heads for Philippines and Taiwan | TCC |

Super Typhoon Doksuri, known locally as Egay, is heading towards the Philippines and Taiwan. It is currently a Category 5 typhoon, with maximum sustained winds of 185 miles per hour (295 kilometers per hour). Doksuri is expected to make landfall in the Philippines on Wednesday, July 26, and then in Taiwan on Thursday, July 27.

The typhoon is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds to the Philippines and Taiwan. There is a risk of flooding and landslides, and power outages are likely. Authorities in both countries have issued warnings and are urging people to take precautions.

Doksuri is the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines and Taiwan so far this year. It is the second super typhoon to hit the Philippines in just over a month. Super Typhoon Chaba made landfall in the Philippines on June 24.

The Philippines and Taiwan are both prone to typhoons. In 2013, Typhoon Haiyan, a Category 5 typhoon, made landfall in the Philippines, killing over 6,300 people.

Here are some safety tips for staying safe during a typhoon:

  • Stay indoors as much as possible.
  • If you must go outside, wear a helmet and goggles to protect yourself from flying debris.
  • Stay away from windows and doors.
  • If you live in a flood-prone area, move to higher ground.
  • Have a plan for what to do if you lose power or water.
  • Listen to the radio or television for updates on the typhoon.

Officials in the Philippines and Taiwan are urging people to take precautions ahead of the arrival of Super Typhoon Doksuri. They are warning people to stay indoors, avoid driving in heavy rain, and be prepared for power outages and flooding.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
